Last week I was talking about overthinking training and how focusing on the end results isn't always the best for us.
Some of you might have been ripping your hair out screaming at the post "I NEED RESULTS TO KEEP TRAINING!!". 🤯
If this was you, I get it.
However, I want you to keep forgetting the results for now 😅 They might be directing you in the wrong direction.
Let's try to re-define your goals!
Btw, this comes at a great time as we are just getting into our next goal-setting sessions for all our members. 👀
Firstly a goal needs to be measurable & achievable.
So a stereotypical goal of "I want to be able to squat 100 kg" is pretty good on paper and has its place for a competitive athlete.
Sorry to burst the bubble but we are not all at that level and we need a deeper goal to keep our training going.
"What is a good goal then coach?!"
It's kinda simple but maybe scary to say out loud.
Think Pride over Ego.
"I want to be able to do things I was able to 10 years ago."
"I want to be able to do x,y, and z with my kids"
"I want to be that badass grandparent who keeps up with the grandkids."
"I want to train so I can feel like myself again."
"I want to make time for myself in the week."
Yep, that's deeper and has likely hit a spot.
These are all measurable and achievable and will keep you training for longer. 💪
Focusing on a goal like this will still improve your performance. So you might hit that 100kg squat, it's just not the main result of your training.
Psst.
